Tour de Dog
This is an early photo essay I worked on in 2007 about the Tour de Dog, a man and dog team that set out to cycle around the United States to raise awareness of animals in shelters. Along the way they did fundraising and made donations for many of the shelters they visited.
David Sylvester and his dog Chiva began their trip in Washington State on a very cold and rainy day. David’s bike with trailer and himself seated on it weighed in at around 400 lbs. Before they made it to Wisconsin where I discovered them, David became ill and lost quite a lot of weight nearly ending the trip early, but David pressed on. David and Chiva have since moved onto other projects but remain a team.
