Description
Digital Restoration of Photographs and Documents
Our manual restoration using digital techniques and tools for old, worn and faded photographs combines all of our services to help old photographs and documents have new life in the 21st century!
Manual Photo Restoration or AI Photo Restoration
While AI Tools to digitally restore, colorize or adjust photographs are now widely available, and often free to use, they do have a few drawbacks. Two of the biggest and most detrimental flaws of AI Photo Restoration are they often have file size restrictions and there are few if any controls or adjustments. Leaving you with a tiny image that might look good for sharing on the web but fails to print well. Or, you may end up with an image that appears over-baked and not quite like the original would have.
Manually restoring old images with digital tools requires patience, technique and skill with the intention of producing a reproduction of the original of the same or better quality.
Digital Restoration Process and Procedure
• We start by digitizing the original at the highest possible quality.
We cannot work from a file sent to us.
• We will rebalance color or greyscale values.
• We clean up and remove scratches, tears and stains to the best of our ability.
We are not able to replace missing parts, if pieces have broken or torn away, retain them and we will attempt to use these to fill in the gaps.
• We will restore original feel and tone of the work.
• We will digitally print this new rendition on high quality fine art papers using non-fading pigment based inks

Depending upon our current workload, it can take a few days to a few weeks from beginning to end. Because of the various stages, tools and manual nature of this work, the time it takes to actually restore an image varies. It can take anywhere from a few hours to several days. Costs typically average around $650 for a single image. But can be less or can be more.
