Description
Fine Art Digital Photo Printing for Artists and Professional Photographers
With over 20 years of experience in both digital and traditions photo printing processes, we blend the knowledge of traditional darkroom and chromogenic printing with contemporary digital printing workflows to create some of the finest prints available. We understand how difficult it can be to find the right printer with the right skills set to match your vision. We take pride in working closely with you to ensure we produce prints you are proud to share and hang.
We have partnered with Canson-Infinity to provide the finest papers to our clients. We believe fine art is not just about the idea but the material the idea is constructed with as well. That is why we are happy to be working with Canson-Infinity. For over 400 years, France’s Canson Paper has been producing some of the highest quality art paper in the world. Our partnership brings that quality into the work we produce for you. We offer the full-line of Canson-Infinity papers and canvases1 to provide you with an extensive range of substrate and surface options. For additional variety, we also work with the full line of Moab papers and select papers from Awagami, Hahnemuhle and Epson.
Voted One of the Best Places to Get Photos Printed by Photographers in the Midwest
We’re not your average print shop and we’re not the cheapest. We don’t offer on-demand prints because we want to know the artists we collaborate with. We know finding a company you can trust to faithfully print the work as it is meant to be seen is challenging and we also understand you may have preferences that may be difficult to match. This is why we tailor our services to meet the unique needs of each of our clients and we’ll work with you to help you decide the best paper or canvas to print your photos on. We’ll walk through the papers we have and how how your work will respond to being printed on them as well as the care for the printed work.
We custom profile each paper and canvas surface we work with to ensure total color and tonal control. This translates into printed photographs that are free of unwanted tonal shifts, truly neutral black and white prints, and colors that pop when they should and are subdued when they need to be.* see below
Photo Prints for Gallery Exhibitions and Editions
The lighting conditions in a gallery are often quite different than the lights a person may have in their home or workspace. These factors impact how a photograph appears and what surfaces should be considered. We take these factors into account to advise on paper selections and even display solutions that will ensure the work looks its best. Photographers who need prints for editioned sets made for collectors need consistent results, even if there is a break between printing sessions. Rest assured, unless you hire us to do so, we do not make any edits to the work once it’s sent to us for print.
Proofing Sessions
We offer a collaborative proofing session to all of our clients. Proofing sessions are ideal for clients who are concerned about the finer details in their prints. We will work with you in person to match colors or tones from previous editions produced elsewhere. Proofing Sessions may be invaluable for clients seeking to produce limited editions for collectors. For details and pricing, see tab above.
Please note, on all orders over $500, prints produced without a proofing session are sold as is.
Process and Quality
Jason Houge Studios uses the latest technology from Epson with their proprietary UltraChrome HD pigment-based inks formulated for long-term archivability and enjoyment. Our workflow is calibrated from digital capture to print to ensure color and tonal accuracy from start to finish. Each paper we use is custom profiled to achieve the most accurate colors and tonal ranges possible.
* Some variance is possible due to substrate reflectivity and lighting conditions. 1We stock most Canson-Infinity and Moab papers in house in addition to select Hahnemühle, Epson and Awagami Papers. Some papers are only available on a case-by-case basis by special order. Contact us for more information and to schedule a presentation of papers and surfaces.
