Professional and Ethical Image Processing and Photo Editing for Photojournalism, Documentary Photography and Art Photography

Real Humans in the AI Era

At Jason Houge Studios we believe in using the right tool for the job. We also believe in maintaining the integrity of the work produced by the artists, documentary photographers and photojournalists we work with. We’re real people, located right here in the United States, working for you. We believe in taking an ethical approach to photo editing and image processing. This means for photojournalism and Documentary work that we abide by the ethics established by organizations such as the World Press Photo, American Society of Media Photographers and the National Press Photographers Association.

Mastering software is complicated but getting your work to look how you want shouldn’t be.

Professional Experience and Proficiencies

We have over 30 years of experience working with Adobe Photoshop and nearly 20 years of experience using Adobe Camera RAW for image processing. Our process is collaborative, we work to get to know you and your needs to ensure we meet your expectations. Our workflow is print aligned; we work with a fully calibrated color system and output at sizes intended for print. If you intend to use the images online, be sure to inform us when communicating and we’ll adjust our output process to accommodate.

Please note: to maintain greater control over our digital workflow and organization, we do not work with Adobe Lightroom.

What is your turnaround time?

Depends on the complexity of the project and our current workload. In many cases we are able to have your images ready within a few days to a week.

Can you rush my order?

Yes, for a 50% Fee.

Can you make my model look less… more…

We do not offer body manipulation services. Generally, this kind of image manipulation is outside the scope of what we offer.

Can you help us prepare the images for publication?

Yes! Most publications want images to be saved in CMYK and at a specific size. Just let us know what sizes to output to and what CMYK profile is needed.

Do you automatically make prints for me?

No, but we can!
If you might want this work printed, please indicate that when communicating with us. We’ll set up an in-person meeting to discuss our papers and answer any questions for you.

I have old printed photographs I’d like to digitize and have you edit. Is this something you can do?

Yes. See our digitizing services for digitizing printed materials.
